Sitting Time, Light-Intensity Activity, and Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes
Physical activity counseling during pregnancy often emphasizes moderate- to vigorous-intensity exercise, but lower-intensity daily movement patterns may also be clinically relevant. A recent cohort study examined whether sedentary behavior, light-intensity physical activity, and daily steps were associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes, including hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, gestational diabetes, preterm birth, and infants who were small for gestational age. This quiz reviews how daily sitting time and light-intensity activity were associated with pregnancy outcomes in the study.
