Understanding the “Big 4” Drivers of Cardiometabolic Risk

Edited by:

Cardiometabolic risk is increasingly understood as a continuum driven by interrelated conditions that extend beyond traditional cardiovascular risk factors. In a recent presentation at the American College of Cardiology Annual Scientific Session, Anum Saeed, MD, highlighted a framework of four key conditions that independently (and collectively) amplify cardiovascular risk and often evolve along a progressive metabolic spectrum. Her discussion emphasizes the importance of early recognition and intervention, particularly as emerging therapies expand clinicians’ ability to address these drivers before they culminate in overt cardiovascular disease. Test your knowledge of this “Big 4” construct and its implications for preventive cardiology.
