Strengthening Knowledge on Disorders of Gut–Brain Interaction: A Symptom-Based Clinical Quiz Series

Edited by:

Disorders of gut–brain interaction (DGBIs) are among the most frequently encountered conditions in clinical gastroenterology and hepatology practice. In these disorders, chronic gastrointestinal symptoms occur in the absence of structural abnormalities or objective biomarkers identifiable on routine evaluation. As a result, careful symptom characterization, and increasingly structured patient-reported outcome (PRO) instruments, plays a central role in diagnosis, severity assessment, and therapeutic evaluation. The following quiz reviews key physiologic and clinical principles underlying functional dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome, and chronic constipation, highlighting the symptom-based framework that defines and guides their management.
