Population-Level Impact of PrEP Coverage on HIV Diagnoses in the United States

While the efficacy of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in preventing HIV transmission at the individual level is well established, its effectiveness in reducing HIV incidence across entire populations depends on implementation and sustained use. A recent ecological analysis assessed US state-level data over a decade (2012-2022) to determine whether higher PrEP coverage correlates with reduced HIV diagnoses. The findings provide important evidence linking real-world PrEP uptake to public health outcomes.
