Abstract Addresses FSH-Blocking Monoclonal Antibodies
Key Highlights
- Humanized MS-Hu6 improved bone mineral density and microarchitecture in ovariectomized mice.
- Its murine surrogate, Hf2, reduced body weight by 13.2% and fat mass by 24% by week 5 in high-fat-fed ovariectomized mice.
- Hf2 improved recognition and spatial memory in two Alzheimer’s disease mouse models.
- The authors said the findings support IND-enabling development toward first-in-human studies.
The humanized follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)-blocking monoclonal antibody MS-Hu6 and its murine surrogate, Hf2, demonstrated skeletal, metabolic, and cognitive effects in preclinical studies targeting osteoporosis, obesity, and Alzheimer disease, according to a study presented at the American Society for Bone & Mineral Research (ASBMR) 2026 Annual Meeting. MS-Hu6 was also well tolerated during a 5-month evaluation in African green monkeys.
The study evaluated both antibody properties and biological effects across several disease models.
Study Findings
The treatment improved bone density, reduced body weight and fat, and improved memory in mice with Alzheimer’s-like conditions, while showing no major safety concerns in monkeys. These promising early findings suggest the treatment could eventually help address osteoporosis, obesity, and Alzheimer’s disease, although human clinical trials are still needed to determine its safety and effectiveness.
Clinical Implications
According to the investigators, the combined structural, formulation, efficacy, and nonhuman-primate safety findings support IND-enabling advancement toward first-in-human studies. Their conclusion describes MS-Hu6 as a candidate for further development.
