LGBT Elder Abuse Resource Portal

Prior to working at the Misericordia Health Centre, Laurie worked at the J.W. Crane Memorial Library, Deer Lodge Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba for 20 years.  She authors the InfoLTC blog for which she won a Manitoba Library Association's Innovation Award and the People’s Choice Award for Best Poster at the CHLA/ABSC 2009 Conference in Winnipeg. The National Resource Centre on LGBT Aging and the FORGE Transgender Aging Network launched a new resource portal this week, dedicated to Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender (LGBT) Elder Abuse

This portal brings together information from partner organizations on the issue of LGBT Elder Abuse in long-term care and home care settings. The publications and multimedia resources are meant for health care professionals to assist in cases of elder abuse in the LGBT community.

The National Resource Centre on LGBT Aging offers a variety of publications and multimedia resources on issues facing all older adults but are directly related to the LGBT community, including: Aging & Ageism, End of Life Decisions, and HIV & Aging.
