AACE/ACE Guidelines: The Lower the LDL, the Better


The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) and the American College of Endocrinology (ACE) Guidelines for Management of Dyslipidemia and Cardiovascular Disease emphasize lower low-density lipoprotein cholesterol targets, among many other new recommendations.

Chair of the writing committee for the guidelines, Dr Paul S. Jellinger, who is an endocrinologist at the Center for Diabetes and Endocrine Care and a professor of clinical medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, discusses the guideline writing process, some of the 87 recommendations made in the guideline, as well as the key takeaway for primary care providers.
