Pediatric Growth Hormone Deficiency
Researchers aimed to evaluate the effect of growth hormone deficiency and growth hormone therapy on the cardiac structure of children, as well as whether insulin like growth factor-1 plays a role.
To identify indicators of psychosocial problems and low self-esteem, researchers compared the results from 2 self-assessments for 46 children with growth hormone deficiency with those from a matched control group of healthy children.
The study included 135 boys and 89 girls with isolated growth hormone deficiency at Tanaka Growth Clinic in Japan. Among them, 83 boys and 51 girls started growth hormone treatment earlier than the average age at onset of puberty.
